We began our mornings with a delicious gourmet breakfast, prepared and served by Shell and Deb, husband and wife and the owners/inn keepers. Before we left to shop in the quaint cozy town of Waynesville, Deb gave us home-made muffins to take w/us to enjoy later. After coming back from dinner, Shell would have our bed turned down, the room freshened up, and chocolates on our pillow. Allyson enjoyed relaxing each night in a smooth lavender salt bath. I had a good time being treated like royalty. We thoroughly loved every minute of it!

To Whom It May Concern:
Last Thursday, July 31, our twenty-one year old daughter, who is under the care of a psychiatrist for clinical depression, phoned her therapist and stated she was suicidal. The doctor kept my daughter on the line and called for help. Officer Eric Claxton responded to the call and located our daughter at the corner of Wells Rd. & Hwy 17. He spoke to Rebecca and verified that she was extremely upset; additionally, he noticed that she had multiple fresh cuts on her wrists. Officer Claxton spoke to Rebecca and calmed her down. He allowed me to speak with her and even got on the phone himself to explain the next steps to me.
My husband I and wanted to take a moment and say thank you to Officer Claxton and the OP Police Department. Officer Claxton was kind and professional in his dealings with our daughter during a very difficult time. He was equally professional and informative when speaking to us on the phone to explain the situation. While I would never wish anyone to experience this circumstance, the silver lining was having an officer who took the time to show compassion in the face of a difficult situation.
Thank you seems inadequate, but those are the only words we have. Please know that we are truly grateful for the kindness shown to our daughter by this extraordinary officer, and would be happy to speak with any superior who should be notified.

We had such an incredible time! Kayaking, visiting military forts, historical sites and museums, swimming in the ocean, sailing, touring old ships, having supper in Caleb's beautiful highrise condo, playing w/Grandaddy, and enjoying Mama's delicious cooking!

I think something bit me, because I am itchy and my eyes are swelling. I just got a nice warm bath and took some Benadryl. Now I'm cuddled next to Mommy in my blanket with my favorite toy. I hope I feel better soon and don't have to go to the doctor and get a shot.

|Arriving and excited!|
|Almost time...getting a little nervous...|
The courtroom was full last night...townspeople, lawyers, county commissioners,
and Mayor Williams, who was sitting up in the judge's chair.
Kaleb delivered his speech beautifully. He received a standing ovation!

After the competitions, the judges invited Kaleb to come to the court house on February 10th and recite his speech for the county officials. He is very excited about that!
Both Allyson and Kaleb are eligible to go on and compete in the sub-regional competition on February 20.
