The kick-off of the '08 Preaching Jubilee and 35th Anniversary Sunday

I think this is such a cute picture...Anna watched over Kaleb very well.

The toy on the right is what Kaleb is sliding down.

This past Sunday was our Pastor Brown's 35th anniversary of pastoring Marion Avenue Baptist Church...AND for Marion Avenue Baptist because the church has only ever had ONE pastor...Dr. Larry Brown. The following pictures were taken at the fairgrounds by Saundra Hoffert. The bus kids spent their Sunday morning at the fairgrounds...hearing preaching and playing at the carnival...that's where Kevin and the kids were all morning helping out. Kevin was the ketchup man...he said he squirted 1,200 hotdogs! Allyson and Kaleb enjoyed playing on all the huge blow-up toys! :) ...as you can see Kaleb demonstrating above.

The below post is a picture of Marion Avenue Baptist Church...the kids and I eating cake before Sunday evening service...the choir singing(can you find Kevin?)...and Pastor Brown, Mrs. Brown, Pastor's mother and sister(who the church flew in from NC as a surprise for the Pastor on his 35th anniversary). Their were over 900 in the auditorium for Sunday morning service and over 100 people got saved total at the church and the fairgrounds!

(Can you spot Allyson, me, and Kevin?)

We were able to attend today's Tuesday morning services of the Preaching Jubilee. The preaching of Pastor Jack Schaap, who is pastor of First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana and Chancellor of Hyles-Anderson College...and the preaching of Pastor Mike Ray, who is pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa, California was just wonderful!

picture of the week....

Hows is every one? It has been a little while since I put a picture on. I have been busy sorting out some other pics. I am done with those and this is one I liked.
This is one of favorite places to go when we go to the beach to relax. Hope you all enjoy.

Capitol Grille

Ok, so we finally used our gift card. I did not take pictures at the restaurant because there were several other couples around us and the atmosphere was such that a camera flashing would have been awkward. However, rest assured that the food was just out of this world and the service was impeccable. When we arrived, they ushered us to our table like we were royalty. They table was decorated with confetti and a gorgeous candle for Eric's birthday. There was also a card on the table signed by all the wait staff that said happy birthday. We each had a different type of steak which was by far the best steak I've ever eaten in my whole life. Then she brought a piece of choclate cheese cake with a candle in it with raspberries and more chocolate drizzled all over it. There are no words for this cake. I've never tasted anything like it and if I knew where to buy it or how to make it, I would never eat anything else. Also, our table was in a private dining area where you had to have a reservation to eat and also be celebrating a special occasion. So thank you everyone for our wonderful evening. We had an absolutely amazing time and we both wish we could go there every single week.

The 2008 McCain/Palin Road to Victory Rally!

Allyson and I had the opportunity to attend a rally at the Eastern Iowa Airport this morning! We had so much fun...and it was absolutely amazing! I've never been to anything like it in my life! In the above picture, as you can see, is John McCain on his way up the platform...shaking hands as he goes.

Here is Sarah Palin! And walking behind her in the dark suit is her husband waving at the crowds.

Palin spoke first...and I have many more pictures and video of this thrilling event that I will be adding to hannafam and my video site.

And McCain closed out the rally. Because of a nice older gentleman, Allyson was able to see most of the rally very well. He held her up above the crowds! :) I got to see McCain and Palin's plane fly in and they walk off w/many bodyguards swarming around them. Allyson and I waved our little American flags and did much cheering! :)

I'm still thinking political...

Who am I?

I am under 45 years old,
  1. I love the outdoors,
  2. I hunt,
  3. I am a Republican reformer,
  4. I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
  5. I have many children,
  6. I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office.

Did you guess? (scroll down)

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900. Hmmm - so Sarah Palin is not qualified but Obama is?
-------------------
Now let's look further into their experience:
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World .... 143 days.
You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.
You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.
You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.
BUT....
Strangely, a large sector of the American public thinks Obama's lack of experience qualifies him to be the President of the United States, but Sarah Palin's far greater experience disqualifies her to be the vice-president.
Only a liberal Democrat would be dumb enough to come to that conclusion.
Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!
