Cabbage and Cornbread

Cabbage on the Grill - 8 servings
Ingredients:
1 large head cabbage
salt, pepper, butter to taste
garlic powder, and/or any seasoning you like! :)
Directions:
Preheat grill for medium heat.
Cut the cabbage into wedges, and remove the core. Place
all the wedges in aluminum foil large enough to wrap the
cabbage. Season to taste and seal cabbage in the foil.
Grill for 30 to 40 minutes on grill, until tender.
Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread - 9 servings
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease an 8" square pan.
Melt butter in large skillet. Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Quickly add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk
with baking soda and stir into mixture in pan. Stir in cornmeal,
flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain.
Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes,
or until a toothpick comes out clean.
I had to put both recipes up because they are delicious! I also made "German Sausage Chowder" that was very tasty.

Well, maybe one day I will try new recipes like these and cook all the awesome new things you do, but it seems like it is all I can do to make anything to eat for dinner these days. The cabbage looks wonderful! I love cabbage and Kevin hates it. We both love cornbread though. I need to make more of that and will use this recipe. I also thought the little smiling boy looked delicious and I want to eat him up.

I love cabbage anyway you want to fix it and especially cooked the way you did. I always get cooked cabbage at the cracker barrel when they have it. I will make that for sure the next time we grill. I can't eat cornbread because of my diet. But I could make it once and a while and splurge. Daddy would love it also. I agree w/Kristin,I think Kaleb looks the most delicious of all.
