Farmer's Market

I thought I would share my bi-weekly trip to Farmer's Market with you. All of the venders provide locally grown, completely untreated produce. If you don't see what you want there its because it is out of season. And for you naysayers that are thinking organic is way more expensive...I got 8 pounds of organic (no pesticides no sprays nothing!) apples for $8. I got all of that lettuce you see for $4. Three large cloves of garlic were $1, the back of tangelos were $2 and so on. The most expensive thing we got was the honey which is provided by this old guy who has a huge bee farm nearby. We also splurged and got some beef jerky from this vender who sales organic beef. But for just veggies and fruit, you will not find a better deal. You can buy the carrots, wipe a bug or two off and chomp down without even washing it. I would love to take you guys to this market. It is so much fun. I have gone so many times now that I am getting to know some of the venders there. There is one guy there who has over ten different kinds of lettuce and they range in tastes from sweet to spicy. And daddy, you would love it because you can try anything you want. Everyone provides free samples.

I wish we had something like this around our house. Meradeth, what is your favorite vegetable at the farmer's market?

To grandmother: Meradeth said, "Ummm, apples. (daddy, "thats a fruit")... Ummmm, Carrots and rice."

Meradeth is absolutely in love with flowers. She wants to pick them wherever we go. So there are several venders that sale cut flowers, potted flowers, trees, herbs and other plants so that is her favorite spot to go.

Looks like loads of fun! Especially when you get such good deals and great quality produce.

This place looks amazing, Kristin! I would love to visit it if we ever get out that way. There is NO way you could buy "organic" food that cheaply in the grocery store. And sometimes I wonder if it's actually organic or not. I still buy it anyway tho. HA HA!
