I remember seeing this picture before. Is the young boy grandaddy's father? Isn't it something how old the parents look to have a young boy and his bare feet and her poor fingers look like she has arthritis. They had to work hard everyday to have food and shelter. We have such an easy life compared to them. I'm glad that you got to go and see grandmother,Candace.
This is one of the pictures I put into ancestry.com when I was trying to make a timeline. Which line did grandmother say this was on, Candace? I forget. Love the pictures. Wish I could have been there.
Granddaddy(James Hiram Pipes) and Grandmother Pipes and Charlie Pipes is the boy. I'm guessing they were born in the 1860's or 1870's...since Grandma Katie was born in 1896. We had a great time. When I was leaving, Grandmother told me everytime I leave her she wants to cry. So, we will be back visiting soon. After church, Joe and Ginger fixed us a delicious lunch at their house.
Grandma Katie had 10 brothers, 5 older and 5 younger, her father was a Baptist preacher. One of her brothers left home on a trip and was never heard from again... i was told that his mother (when she was old) would sit on the porch watching for him to return.
