Saturday morning

Travis has been training about a month for his first race in the KTC. He ran a 9 min 45 sec mile (w/hills) and came in 5th place. He has 4 more races in the Youth Greenway Mile Series, the last one in March.

The 4-H Chick Chain Project Show and Sale

In March, Allyson began the Chick Chain Project w/15 baby hens.  Yesterday evening was the the end of the project...the show and sale!  Judges from the University of Tennessee came out to judge the 4-Her's chickens.  Division #1 was all the 4th grader's birds; and Division #2 was the 5th - 12th grades, which had twenty entries.  So, Allyson was competing against high schoolers.  The places were Grand Champion, reserved Grand Champion, blue ribbon, and red ribbon.
Allyson WON the Grand Champion award!  Her birds sold in the auction for $12.50 apiece, proceeds go to support the 4-H club.
She received a framed certificate and $50!

Together at last! Thank you, Grammie, for the bunk bed.

Happenings

There are videos and pictures of our visit w/Daddy and Mama on the weekend of the 4th, and then other happenings around the Hanna farm.  We have been working w/Scout some; Kevin put the saddle on and held him while I got on his back...Scout did beautifully!  He's such a good horse! We didn't take pictures of that but will sometime and post.

The kids gave Kevin a dehydrator and jerky gun for Father's Day

Superheroes

We went to birthday party Saturday and the theme was superheroes. So I found and easy pattern online and sewed these for the kids. Then, Kevin and I made the designs from some foam paper. I used velcro on most of the larger decals and then attached some velcro to the front of their shirt so they could replace a certain "weather" on the front of their shirt depending on what they wanted. They were "weather woman" and "weather man".  We took them by Grammie's house and she approved of the capes!

Same Fran....different kids.

Fran took Kevin out to lunch yesterday for his birthday and he snapped the picture on the right of her and the kids. When he txted it to me, I remembered another picture with almost the exact same pose-- only with different kids. I dug it out and kevin put these two side by side. The picture on the left is of Fran and her children, Chandra and Kevin, taken over 30 years ago at the Grand Canyon.
